Following publication of the DMO Review in September 2021, the Government has published it’s response.
The Bois DMO review makes 12 recommendations in total, six of which are directed at the government, four at DMOs themselves and one each for local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) and local authorities.
The Government’s response sets out the government’s response to the recommendations.
Key findings:
- The key outcomes are that DCMS will provide Visit England with £4 million over three years to develop and administer a new DMO accreditation scheme and create a pilot in one region of the country to re-structure under a new tiered arrangement model.
- DMOs will be re-named Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs).
- The Government states that it did not want to commit to funding a national network without first supporting and evaluating a single pilot that will be selected from a set of criteria – including levelling-up, devolution and growth potential.
