About the Event

Raising our ambition for skills development across the visitor economy is at the heart of enabling long term and sustainable sector growth, ensuring higher skilled and quality careers in the sector are recognised, accessible and taken up by local people.

Pre-COVID challenges for the visitor economy have been exacerbated by the pandemic, and exposed market weaknesses, for example for recruitment to hospitality.

We want to raise the ambition for the visitor economy and move to a narrative of ‘year-round, with well-paid, skilled careers’, particularly to support young people develop into the broad range of visitor economy careers, support reskilling and upskilling, and entrepreneurship, and to grow sector productivity.

This strategic workshop will bring together key public sector players, education and training providers, strategic partners and visitor economy employers to help to shape and enable development of joined up, accessible and needs-led programmes for the workforce and the industry.

Our workshops are available to key stakeholders and practitioners working in the visitor economy, across public, private and community sectors. Our aim is to bring together individuals from the broad range of areas that contribute to our sector from travel, hospitality, retail and leisure, to culture, heritage and countryside to support sharing best practice, innovation, and development.

We also want to connect our visitor economy with the key strategic development areas that will support and enable sustainable growth of the sector, including areas of skills, transport, planning, environment and economic development.

Once you have registered for the event, you will a calendar invitation from Suffolk Growth Partnership and be added to our sign-up list. We will then send each registered attendee the agenda pack and any pre-reading materials a week in advance of the workshop.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
